Ensuring Quality Health Services: Complex Issues, Emerging Opportunities

Improving access to health services is not enough to improve population health. The quality of care must also be improved. Many low- and middle-income countries have made progress in the pursuit of quality, but much work remains to ensure that all patients–including women and children, socially marginalized individuals and those living in underserved areas–can walk into a community health clinic knowing they will receive safe, high-quality, evidence-based care.
