Description
To deliver relevant, quality care effectively and equitably, the health workforce—including health professionals, regulators, planners, managers, and community health workers—must understand the complex factors that influence the health of patients and communities, and they must possess competencies to mitigate the negative effects of these factors.
This case study describes and analyzes the Eswatini Nursing Council's efforts to strengthen the competence of nursing graduates to address the population’s health needs by introducing entry-to-practice competencies as the basis for a national licensing examination, and for incorporating Social Determinants of Health into these competencies.
